Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Brief

20th Century Studios required a digital display banner ad campaign for their latest film, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The aim was to build anticipation pre-release and maintain momentum post-release through engaging, responsive ads tailored to various platforms and cinema chains. The campaign needed to be executed in a very tight timeframe, with multiple variants to suit different markets and messaging.

Solution

The campaign was developed using GSAP (GreenSock Animation Platform) for smooth and dynamic animations, and Google DoubleClick Studio for seamless integration and distribution across networks. Given the short turnaround time, the ads were designed with an optimised production pipeline, ensuring rapid development and deployment.

A range of banner variations were created, including:

  • Generic Units – Standard ads for general awareness, featuring pre-release messaging.
  • Odeon & Vue Units – Customised banners with cinema-specific branding and targeting.
  • Review Units – Post-release ads featuring review quotes and ratings to sustain interest.

This structure enabled the campaign to transition smoothly from pre- to post-release phases while maintaining visual consistency and brand messaging across all platforms.
